Program Description

The Schools of Architecture from IIT and Tecnológico de Monterrey are sharing this summer program in which the students from four different cities will enjoy the experience of Design in three of the most representative Baroque Colonial cities in Mexico and the birth of modernism in the city of

Chicago.

IIT - Summer Electives 6 credit hours.


Tec de Monterrey - 2 Topics (16) or 1 Project(12)


1st Part. Booklet.

Research, Collect, Gather, Assemble, Document, Design, Develop and Fabricate a travel “scrap-book” and a final booklet including all the sketches, drawings and renders of the design process of a piece of furniture/installation evolving through the different sites of the 4 cities.


2nd. Part. Furniture Piece

The piece of furniture should be designed with a particular site or multiple sites in mind discovered & documented throughout the time of your travels

rn present/future. The program will also include travel to Mexico City and to a number of cities and key architectural sites between Zacatecas and Mexico City in order to better familiarize ourselves with Mexico's rich architectural heritage.

Upon completion of travel and work in Zacatecas, Tecnologico de Monterrey students and faculty will return to Chicago for two additional weeks of studies and travel.
