As an American College student, you are welcome to study abroad at UCD for a semester or a full-year.

The UCD North America team will support you before you leave home, when you first arrive and throughout your time at UCD.

Our aim is for you to get the most out of your experience academically, culturally and socially.

You can take up to six modules (classes) per semester at UCD. You can register for less than six modules with permission from your home university. Study abroad students have access to the full range of undergraduate modules available at UCD* (* subject to capacity and timetabling). You can register for up to four modules in your subject area and up to two modules from other Programme areas. You may also take all of your modules within your chosen subject area.*

You will be pre-registered to your modules before you arrive at UCD and in most cases, you will have up to two weeks after the start of term to alter your module selection.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for any UCD Study Abroad Programme, you should hold a GPA of 3.00. You must submit your transcript and a copy of your passport as part of the application process.

Choosing a Programme
You should apply for the UCD Study Abroad Programme in the academic area where you are taking most of your modules.

3. How many credits do MEEN 30100, MEEN 20060 and MEED 20050 correspond to? Per ILlinois Tech's requirements, our students must register for a minimum of 12 credits ( US) per semester. This would correspond to 24 ECTS credits. - the majority of engineering modules are awarded 5-ECTS. All three modules mentioned are 5-ECTS but please note MEEN30100 is offered in the fall only. Some US Partners transfer our 5-ECTS as 2.5 US credits; other Partners 3 US credits. Students are also permitted to take up to two elective modules from other programme areas.
4. What is the cost for courses for the Spring semester at UCD? - €8,800 per semester for tuition fees.
5. What is the cost for housing ( accommodation & meals) - varies depending on what residence students book. Full list of housing fees are listed on the UCD Accommodation website at https://www.ucd.ie/residences/residential-services/finance/fees2017-2018/
Please refer to the single semester fee table only.
6. Links to the visa application process if a US citizen - if students hold a US passport, they do not need a visa to study in Ireland. They will need to register with our immigration bureau (INIS) after arrival in Dublin.
7. Are there any scholarships offered to US students interested in studying at UCD and if so, what are they and what is the procedure? We do not offer scholarships in engineering to semester study abroad students, Business offer two €1000 scholarships per semester.
